Venue: Takayama City Cultural Hall

Takayama is a historical city surrounded by the highest mountains including the Hida Mountains (the northern Japan Alps) in Japan. Takayama has the original culture and warm atmosphere which attracts many foreign tourists. In the downtown of Takayama, there are traditional old streets. It is popular for tourists to visit a street market in the morning. The city is rated three stars in the Michelin Guide. Takayama is also good for a base for a one-day trip to the World Heritage Sites, Shirakawago and Gokayama, and the mountain areas. Takayama City Cultural Hall, the meeting venue, is located in the center of Takayama city. It is about five minutes on foot from the Takayama train station.

Access to Takayama

From Tokyo (Tokyo (Narita or Haneda) International Airport)

First go to Tokyo downtown from the airport by train or bus. Take a Tokaido Shinkansen train at Tokyo station to Nagoya. Transfer at Nagoya Station to an express train "Hida". It takes from Tokyo station to Takayama station for about 5 hours and 30 minutes. An alternative way is to take a Hokuriku Shinkansen train at Tokyo Station to Toyama. Transfer at Toyama Station to the express train "Hida".

From Osaka (Kansai International Airport)

First go to Osaka downtown from the airport by train or bus. Take an eastbound Tokaido Shinkansen train at Shin-Osaka station to Nagoya. Transfer at Nagoya Station to the express train "Hida". It takes you from Shin-Osaka station to Takayama station for about 4 hours.

From Nagoya (Chubu International Airport)

First go to Nagoya downtown from the airport by train or bus. Transfer at Nagoya Station to the express train "Hida". It takes you from Nagoya station to Takayama station for about 130 minutes.

The express train "Hida" connecting Nagoya and Takayama leaves Nagoya Station every hour in the daytime. Please find your domestic transportation in Japan at train router finder by JORUDAN.

Accomodation

There are a couple of hotels including Takayama Green Hotel, Hida Takayama Washington Hotel Plaza, Best Western Hotel Takayama, Spa Hotel Alpina Hida Takayama, and etc. in a walking distance to the Takayama city cultural hall. LOC does NOT make a reservation these hotels for participants except for the invited speakers. Please make a resevation by yourself.
